We received an email this morning from Google – outlining their plans to drop their Google Apps support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 – and other older browsers.

“In order to continue to improve our products and deliver more sophisticated features and performance, we are harnessing some of the latest improvements in web browser technology. This includes faster JavaScript processing and new standards like HTML5. As a result, over the course of 2010, we will be phasing out support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as other older browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers.”

This is actually great news for web designers and developers as now we don’t have to spend twice as long on some projects as we dont have to make alternative CSS for the older browsers.

However, the latest results from w3Schools.com on Browsers usage statistics show that 10.6% of web users STILL use IE6 – i guess these 10.6% of people are gonna start being limited as to what they can actually see when they’re browsing the interweb.
